Port City has a passion for our locals especially when it comes to providing support to organisations such as the amazing team at YP Space Mid North Coast.
YP Space MNC (YPS) is a youth specialist homelessness service operating in the Port Macquarie/ Hastings and Kempsey/ Macleay LGAs for over 32 years. YPS works with young people, aged 12 to 25 years, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across our target LGAs. Their services are not just limited to providing a safe place for young people but a range of emotional, financial support including life skills to help these young people move into a positive future. The majority of young people YPS supports are experiencing homelessness due to domestic and family violence, child abuse and family breakdown. Young people accessing YPS services have generally experienced significant trauma in their lives and have developed survival skills that are perceived as negative and impacting on their health and wellbeing.

One of the many funded services YPS provides is the safe and affordable housing responses to young people across our target regions including the Crisis Accommodation. YPS implemented two 24/7 Supported crisis accommodation services – 1 in PMQ and 1 in Kempsey.
Both these services have a total of 5 beds available to young people aged 13 to 17 years of age. Crisis accommodation is available to young people for up to 3 months and is targeted at providing safe & affordable crisis responses to young people with high & complex needs who have limited family/ community support options. The Club has been working alongside the YPS’s amazing team over the past six months to provide assistance in the form of funding whether it be donations tins, voluntary staff wage deductions, fund raising days & Christmas Charity donations. If you would like to support YP Space or would like more information about the service please contact our reception team.
Over 26,000 young people between the ages of 12-25 are homelessness in Australia- it takes a community to make a difference.
