Board Newsletter- March Report
The countdown to Port City's 80th Birthday has begun & the board would like to thank all of our members and guests for your ongoing contributions, participation & support that has proudly made Port City your local Club. We hope to see you at the club for our 80th Birthday Bash on the 21st of April - a night of fun & live music for the whole family.

At our last board meeting, the following items were discussed:

Club News
  • Paynter Dixon have been appointed to investigate potential uses of the carpark and vacant land. This is part of the Board’s strategic plan to look at alternative revenue sources for the club.
  • The Board are pleased to advise that Eastern Tiger Restaurant has taken up their contractual option to run the buffet for a further 5 years.
  • Membership of the club has exceeded last year’s total with club now having 14,851 members an increase of approximately 30% since the renovations.
  • The club has reduced its loan for the renovations to $2.2 million as at 31st March from an original $4.2 million.
Bowls News
  • Bowls membership has increased to 446 from 393 in 2017, which means Port Macquarie City Bowling Club has the largest active bowling membership of any bowling club in New South Wales.
  • The Board would like to congratulate Callum Murray on winning the Zone 14 southern section district single final defeating Port City Bowling Club’s Craig Donaldson & then on Sunday the 8th of April also won the Port City Men's Major Singles Championship (for the second year running) over Bruce Anderson (for the second year running) 31 to 27. A great contest between these two and a great game to watch - nip and tuck down to and including the last end.

Club Grants News

2018 ClubGrants Category 1 round now OPEN

Port Macquarie-Hastings not-for-profit groups and charities needing a helping hand, are invited to apply for ClubGRANTS funding.

Category 1 grant applications are now open to community groups from the following sectors:
  • Community Welfare & Social Services
  • Community Development
  • Employment Assistance Activities
  • Community Health Services
All application must be submitted online by 6 May:

Port City's 80th Birthday Bash
Port City marks 80 years since it first opened on April 23 in 1938 & you’re invited to help us celebrate!

Members will be treated to $4.50 schooners and $5.00 craft beers all week
(16th April to 22nd April)

Frank Sinatra Tribute Show on Saturday the 21st of April.
Members and guests, young and old, are in for a treat when one of Sydney’s most sought-after Frank Sinatra tribute artists performs for our 80th birthday, supported by a 7-piece brass swing-band!
